Lorenza’s Historic with the Diné

1996 – 1997:

- Lorenza Garcia met twice medicine men and women and Dine artists during cultural expositions in Paris.

1997:

- She went on a study trip to Navajoland.

1998:

- She was involved with the organization on a cultural project of the arrival of a Navajo delegation to La Rochelle. La Rochelle is a French town near the Atlantic Ocean.
- She was the founder and president “Dine de La Rochelle” Association.

1999:

- She find partners for a cultural tour in France for the Navajo delegation

2001:

- A Navajo Delegation arrived at La Rochelle to participate in the Museum of the New World, the community schools and social centers and cultural exchange programs.

2003:

- She organized an intercultural meeting between French students from the school Hetic in Paris and Navajo students from Greyhills Academy in Tuba City.
- She went on another study trip.

2004:

- Foundation of the French Navajo Association in Paris. Lorenza was the president. Its website was created: www.navajo-france.com.
- She arranged the first exchange program between French students of Hétic and Navajo students.
- She organized a meeting with the representatives of UNESCO with regards to the safeguarding of the Mount San Francisco Peaks, the preservation of the Navajo language, the consequences of the extraction of uranium where Honorable President Navajo, Joe Shirley, Jr, First Lady Vikki Shirley and the members of his government were present.

2005:

- Collaboration between the Navajo France Association, the Navajo Government and the Desert People of the World Foundation.
- Conference with the Desert People of the World, which included representatives of UNESCO and ONU regarding environmental protection.
- The Navajo France Association organized an evening of media and the screening of the documentary A Navajo Springtime. It is a presentation of the Navajo Nation, including the problems of environment which it meets such as Mount San Francisco Peaks and the extraction of Uranium, with artistic sand painting workshops and performance by the music group Lorenza.
- The second intercultural exchange between Navajo students at Dine College and students of Hétic to inspire comprehension of environmental preservation was carried out.

2006:

- Participation in the “Festival de l’Errance” for the meeting of Native American from North America and from India. There was a presentation of dances, songs, sand paintings, selling of traditional jewelry and the discussion of the Dine Culture in our universe.
- Third intercultural exchange between Navajo students of Greyhills Academy and French students of Hetic for the creation of a site for the presentation and sale of traditional craftsman Navajo objects.
- The ANF participated with members of the Diné in the third festival of the Desert People of the World Foundation in Algiers which included a presentation of environment conferences, of songs and dances.

2007:

- She decided to settle down and live out of Navajo ground but keep supporting the Diné culture in France and on Navajo ground by receiving groups of tourists.

In progress in France:

- Writing a 52 minute documentary entitled “Red like the Wheat”, or the “Dine Visions”. Currently analyzing locations and production feasibility.
- Creation of a show and CD in France for the musical band of Lorenza.
- Fourth intercultural exchange between the Navajo student and Hetic for the creation of the US and Navajo version of the ANF website.
- Writing the book “Beauty Circle”

In progress in Navajo ground:

- Presentation to the First Lady Office of a Project for the reception of foreign Ethic tourism on Navajo ground.
